AssignZ.tml

Assigns elevations to 2D contour lines by striking a line across the contours and assigning the first and last elevations.

AssignZ.tml is designed to quickly assign elevations to 2D contours given the elevation of the first and last contours.
  • Strike a line across contours and let AssignZ.tml assign elevations to the contours crossing the line.
  • There are quick editing tools built into this command to make this process easy.

How to use AssignZ.tml

After downloading AssignZ.* to the Terramodel installation folder\Terramodel\tmls folder, open a Terramodel project and type assignz at the command line and press the < enter > key.

Assign elevation to contours Settings

  • Intermediate contours:
    • Search layers: Select the name of the layer list containing the layers of the Intermediate contours. Click on the button to create or modify the layer list from a list of layers containing plines.

    • Relayer to: Layer of the modified intermediate contours. If layer zero is selected, the contours will retain the original layer.
    • Intermediate color: Color of the modified intermediate contours. This helps you quickly identify the contours that have been assigned elevations.
    • Increment colors: If this is checked, the color of the intermediate contours will change by one. For example, if the index contour is 500 and the intermediate contours are 502, 504, 506 and 508. The color of the 502 contour will get the color assignment from the setting above (say color 1) then the 504 contour will be assign to color 2, the 506 contour will be color 3, and the 508 contour will be color 4.

    • Contour interval: Elevation difference between the contours.

Draw the line

Once the settings are changed, you are ready to draw the line.
Draw the line from one known elevation to another.

Strike_the_line_across_contours

Specify the elevation of the first contour and the ending contour the line is crossing. Use the buttons along the command bar to quickly set the elevations.

Tip:

Strike a line through the contours where the contours are in a sequential order. For example, do not strike through contours that are going up then down a hill.

Programmer's Note:

This command is designed to run with the following other tmls to assign elevations to a 2D contour drawing: ConLabZ.tml, IntCon.tml and 3DPL.tml.
