Spell Checker

LyrPfix.tml

Adds or removes a prefix from layer names.

If you work in an office that shares Terramodel projects, then you know how important layer names are. Hopefully you have created a layer naming convention that you and your co-workers understand. LyrPfix.tml will quickly add a prefix to selected layers. Adding a "DD-" to all layers created by the "Design Division" and adding "TD-" to the beginning of all layers created by the "Traffic Division" could help organize your project and help all that share projects get a clear understanding of each layer.

How to use the LyrPfix command:

After downloading LyrPfix.* to the Terramodel installation folder\Terramodel\tmls folder, open a Terramodel project and type lyrpfix at the Terramodel command line:

Terramodel command line.

You will see:

LyrPfix.tml dialog box.

Add a Prefix:

  • Highlight all layers you wish to add a prefix to.
  • Type a prefix in the Prefix field.
  • Click Add.

Add a prefix to the selected layers.

Remove a Prefix:

  • Highlight all layers that have a prefix you wish to remove.
  • Type the prefix in the Prefix field.
  • Click Remove.

Remove a prefix from the selected layers.

Filter the list of layers before adding and removing prefixes:

  • Finding layers is sometimes very difficult. The Filter option lets you minimize the list of layers to select from.
  • Type a filter in the Filter field. Then tab to the next field.
  • The list of layers is limited to this filter.
  • Here is an example of filtering the list of layers to include only layers with the word "GRID" in the name.

    Use the Filter option.

Note: This command will not create a layer name that is longer than 16 characters. If the name will be longer than 16 characters after assigning a prefix, the prefix will not be added and a note in the message area will warn you that the name is too long.
